Coloring on the go can be a challenge. Most pen cases are hard and boxy. This easy DIY rollup marker holder can fit just about anywhere, even in your pocket, and can hold a mix of pencils, markers, and twist-up crayons. Roll the holder open to see all of your colors at a glance!
Here’s what you’ll need to make this case:
Supplies:
- Any sheet of 9×12 Kunin Eco-Fi Felt
- Rotary Cutter (you can use scissors)
- Ruler
- Cutting Mat
Assembly:
- Place the ruler at least 2” from the long edge of the felt sheet, parallel to the edge.
- Using the rotary cutter, start 2” from the edge of the felt and cut along the ruler. Stop 2” before the other end of the felt. If using scissors, use the ruler and a fabric marker to draw a line and then cuse the scissors to cut along the line to make the slit.
- Move the ruler over 1” towards the middle of the felt sheet and cut another slit. Cut at 5 slits to fit a standard marker.
- Insert the markers by threading them under and over each strip. Repeat with the next marker, threading opposite the first marker. Continue inserting markers until the holder is full.
- Trim the felt around the edges away to better fit the markers.
- Roll up the holder into a tube shape.
- Use a strip of leftover felt to tie the rollup closed.
